INTERN SPOTLIGHT—Adam Salomon
Meet Adam Salomon, 2020 tax season intern working in the Accounting & Outsourced Solutions Department. Adam currently attends Michigan State University and will graduate with his Bachelor’s degree in May 2021. Adam plans to go on to get his Master’s degree from MSU after graduation.
Adam is originally from Flushing, Michigan and enjoys working out and playing basketball in his spare time. He also coaches basketball in the summer. Adam also enjoys going to concerts and spending time with family and friends.
Why did you choose a career path in public accounting?
I have always liked dealing with numbers and I like having the ability to work on a number of different clients.
Why did you choose Maner Costerisan to intern with?
Maner seemed like a close-knit firm with good people. I also like the friendly environment and having other people close to my age to work with.
What has been your favorite thing about working at Maner Costerisan?
My favorite thing is the ability to do different things throughout the day and learning new things.
What was your first day at Maner Costerisan like?
My first day at Maner was a lot of learning and getting to know how things work. It was an important day because it set the foundation for everything.
What are your duties as an intern?
My duties are to basically help the staff with anything, whether that be by doing Bank Reconciliations, scanning in documents, making deliveries, or recording transactions.
What has been the most difficult aspect of your internship?
The most difficult aspect has been learning the new technology, but I am getting the hang of it!
What has been the most rewarding part of your internship?
The most rewarding part of my internship is the feeling after getting done with a difficult project and realizing I did it!
What advice or tips would you give to a new intern?
ASK QUESTIONS, and also don’t just focus on HOW to do things, know WHY you’re doing them so you can learn and have an understanding.
Who have you gotten a chance to interact with during your internship?
I’ve met some clients on deliveries, I have met most of the Associates in the Accounting Department. Jim is my department head and he has been great! Also Casey is my career advisor and he has been fantastic at answering questions and making me feel welcome here.
