IRS Delays Tax Deadline to May 17

Late yesterday, the IRS announced it extended the annual federal tax deadline by roughly a month, from April 15 to May 17. The deadline extension allows filers additional time to complete tax returns complicated by the pandemic.

The federal tax filing deadline postponement only applies to individual federal income tax returns and tax (including tax on self-employment income) payments otherwise due April 15, not state tax payments or deposits or payments of any other type of federal tax.
