“I aim to be quick to respond to client requests and needs, building personal relationships with them and treating them like they are the most important person at the time I’m with them.”
Christy joined the Maner Costerisan team in 2014. She primarily works on audit and review compilations, along with some corporate taxes. Christy assists a wide variety of clients, but primarily serves telecommunication companies and nonprofit entities. In addition to her client responsibilities, she assists with managing and reviewing engagements and staff, client relations, review engagement letters, as well as other firm administrative management roles.
Prior to joining the firm, Christy served as a manager at McCartney & Company, PC, which merged with Maner Costerisan in 2014. She is known for being a go to person for difficult and unplanned assignments and for always being willing to help out wherever she is needed.
Christy has authored two articles – “Small Organizations: Internal Controls to Help Deter and Prevent Fraud” and “How Being Vulnerable is Good for Our Clients.” She has been a local speaker as well, in particular, “Paperless Round Table Discussion” at a Lansing Area CPA Group and Leadership – Kiwanis Club of Lansing.
After two years of college, Christy switched her studies to accounting. During that time, a family member was doing accounting work and she found it to be interesting. Upon switching her course of study, she found that she loved everything about accounting, realizing right then that she wanted to be a CPA and a partner in a public accounting firm. Christy attributes her success today to being dedicated to the firm and its clients and taking the time to learn more each year, in order to grow professionally.
Christy’s favorite author is Stephen King, as she enjoys that he writes in such a way that one can picture every detail of the story in the mind. Her favorite quote, that she believes holds very true for her today, is by Simon Sinek, author of Start with Why: “Working hard for something we don’t care about is stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.”
Growing up in Davison, Michigan, with parents who were both ministers, Christy now lives in Brighton, Michigan with her husband, Russell. She enjoys that the town is just big enough and has everything she needs close by. In her spare time, Christy enjoys reading, remodeling the house and doing Sudoku puzzles.
