Jeffrey C. Stevens, CPA, CITP
President, Principal, Business Solutions and Information Technology

“My goal through each engagement is to provide recommendations that will improve our clients’€™ operations and overall environment in some way. Those recommendations come through critical thinking, years of experience and a deep understanding of their businesses.”

Jeff joined Maner Costerisan in 1983. As President, he guides the firm’s strategy and day-to-day operations, and works toward the overall growth and profitability of the firm. Jeff is also the director of the Business Solutions and Technology Department where he specializes in bridging his clients’ business needs with ideal technology solutions for their unique situations. In his day-to-day roles, Jeff provides assurance and consulting services to nonprofit organizations and also works with closely-held and governmental entities. In addition, he provides litigation support to attorneys including expert witness testimony on business and personal damage claims.

The comprehensive service and support Jeff provides to his clients has resulted in their success on multiple and frequent occasions. Particularly, he has provided outsourced controllership services to companies during periods of transition or reestablishment in the marketplace. Within the Business Solutions and Technology Department, Jeff often assists with the implementation of new software to help improve organizations’ effectiveness and efficiency. He also helps enhance clients’ financial reporting systems to improve the information they receive on their internal business operations, allowing them to make critical, informed decisions on how to best run their organizations.

With over 25 years of experience, Jeff has developed extensive expertise within the industry and is well-respected by his colleagues and clients. Over the years, he has shared his knowledge by presenting at numerous industry and firm seminars. Most recently, Jeff presented on “Building Bridges to Success: 2008 AICPA Top Technology Initiatives” to the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents and “Considerations for Developing Your Business Continuity Plan” to the Michigan Institute of Educational Management. In addition to his speaking engagements, he has authored articles for The Greater Lansing Business Monthly Magazine, including “Developing a Strategic Technology Plan” and “Business Software Upgrades.”

Jeff was inspired to pursue an accounting career due to his family, many of whom are also in the accounting field. In particular, seven members of his immediate family have accounting or finance backgrounds, including two brothers who currently serve as partners of other CPA firms. Jeff attributes his success to a number of personal characteristics and life experiences. Specifically, he credits his hard work and open mind. Whether he is working with colleagues or clients, he strives to understand their views and approaches by examining issues from each perspective. Jeff also recognizes his family, who has instilled in him a strong work ethic and commitment to succeed, both academically and professionally.

Born in Detroit, Jeff was raised in DeWitt, Michigan as one of 11 children. He still resides there today with his wife. Together they have three children and two granddaughters. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys coaching and watching his children play soccer, and jet skiing.
