Bob joined Maner Costerisan when his practice, Henderson, Miller & Robbins, P.C., merged with the firm in 1998. He is currently a principal of Maner Costerisan where he specializes in consulting individuals and businesses in all areas of tax. Bob provides his clients with a broad range of services including individual and business tax compliance and consulting, business succession planning, merger and acquisition tax planning, Michigan business tax planning, estate and gift tax planning, taxpayer representation before the IRS and State of Michigan, college education tax planning and charitable tax planning.
Bob’s impressive and comprehensive background in the accounting industry began in 1972 following his college graduation. His previous experiences include: 7 years at Henderson, Miller & Robbins, P.C.; 2 years at KPMG Peat Marwick; 9 years at KMG Main Hurdman; and 6 years at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina.
Over the years, Bob’s previous roles have given him the necessary tools to better identify with each of his client’s unique needs. Specifically, he helped a partnership obtain capital gain treatment and an installment method while building a yacht for potential sale. In addition, Bob helped an individual set up a private charitable giving foundation for his family after selling his company. Beyond his client experiences, he has extended his expertise by speaking for the Michigan Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) and authoring for theGreater Lansing Business Monthly magazine.
Bob was drawn to an accounting career after he took an accounting class during college. He enjoyed the connection accounting made between math and business, and how that connection applied to the real world. Bob attributes his success to many of his positive traits including good listening skills, which are vital to successful client relationships. He also credits his understanding of businesses and complex situations, ability to break down complex situations so they are easily understood by others, practical common sense approach, good work ethic, honesty, sense of humor and attention to detail.
Bob grew up in Okemos, Michigan and is currently a resident of East Lansing. He and his wife, Josselyn, have three children. Outside of the office, Bob is an avid sports fan, especially of Michigan State University athletics. He is also an animal lover and is currently working with the Humane Society to help feral cats throughout the Okemos area.
