Alexis Balkema, CPA, Manager

Alexis joined Maner Costerisan as part of the Baker Holtz merger, bringing six years of tax and accounting experience. She began her career at Baker Holtz as a tax intern in 2019 while in college and transitioned to a full-time role in January 2020. As a manager, her work focuses on providing tax support to local businesses and individuals, partnering with clients to help them navigate compliance and day-to-day tax needs.

Throughout her career, Alexis has been motivated by collaboration and relationship-building. She enjoys working closely with both colleagues and clients and values seeing the individuals and businesses she supports grow and evolve over time. Early exposure to accounting in high school, followed by an internship with a local CPA firm, sparked her interest in the profession and confirmed her desire to pursue public accounting.

Alexis graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She lives in West Michigan with her husband, Austin, their daughter, Millie, and their dog, Tipsy. Outside of work, her time is largely spent with her growing family. She also enjoys reading, thrift shopping, staying active, especially long walks, and traveling.

My ultimate goal in life is to be happy and be a good person. I believe having a good balance of enjoying my personal life and having a passion for what I do for work will aid in having an overall happy and fulfilling career.
