Kyle Schafer, CPA, Principal, Director

Kyle began his career at Maner Costerisan in 2009. He serves as a principal in the Audit department and was elected to the firm’s Board of Directors in 2025. He specializes in providing assurance and attestation services for nonprofit organizations, including compliance audits subject to the Uniform Guidance. Kyle is a member of the firm’s Nonprofit Industry Committee, which focuses on staying at the forefront of accounting practices, industry trends, and other relevant topics impacting nonprofit organizations. Additionally, he is a member of the firm’s Audit Department Committee, a group of firm leaders that help to inform the firm’s audit strategy.

Kyle became aware of accounting at a young age, thanks partly to his family, who owned an accounting firm. He gained experience working with clients in various industries early in his career, sparking a passion for client service that remains today. His board service and volunteer work also helped to create a deeper understanding of nonprofits and the important role finances play in their success. He loves how his work provides him the chance to combine these two passions into a meaningful career.

Kyle graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He resides in Eagle, Michigan, with his wife and children. In his free time, Kyle enjoys the outdoors, playing baseball, golf, basketball and running with his kids. He is also deeply interested in personal finance and sharing responsible habits with his kids as they grow up.

One phrase that drives me is a slight modification of the golden rule, to treat others the way they want to be treated. To me, that means getting to know the client and team through being respectful, observant and engaged in their day-to-day.
