Our Team
Steven Struck, CPA, Principal
Steven is a principal at Maner Costerisan. He began his public accounting career at a large professional services organization in 1999 and joined Baker Holtz in 2003, where he spent more than two decades serving clients and leading the firm’s tax practice. After serving as a Tax partner for nine years, he joined Maner as part of the Baker Holtz merger. At Maner, he functions as a team leader in the Grand Rapids office, focusing on growing the firm’s local presence through his referral network while continuing to serve existing clients. His role includes delivering tax services as well as connecting clients with Maner’s broader advisory, accounting, and consulting capabilities.
Throughout his career, Steven has worked with a wide range of clients, including complex and high-profile engagements, one of his most memorable being the preparation of the tax return for a well-known historic hotel on Mackinac Island. He is drawn to tax and public accounting for the blend of technical, legal, and strategic problem-solving, as well as the opportunity to work closely with successful individuals and businesses. He values Maner’s depth of talent and resources and believes they elevate both client service and professional development. He is also a strong advocate for helping professionals identify their “why” early in their careers and aligning it with how they work to create long-term satisfaction and impact.
Steven earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Calvin University and a Master of Science in Taxation from Grand Valley State University. He lives with his wife, Lisa, and their Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Phoebe. With their son, Kyle, attending Purdue University and their daughter, Morgan, preparing to attend Michigan State University, they are adjusting to life as soon-to-be empty nesters. Outside of work, he enjoys college football, baseball, hockey, travel, and missing short putts on the golf course. A lifelong New York Mets fan, he remains loyal, despite ongoing heartbreak since 1986.
I think it's really important to find your "why" early in your career. And it's ok that your "why" evolves and changes over time because your job does the same. Once you find your "why", then find a way "how" to execute and make it happen. You will find satisfaction and joy when your "why" and your "how" align.
