Maner Costerisan Names Jeff Straus, CPA, to Board of Directors, Announces Annual Firm-wide Promotions

LANSING, Mich. – Maner Costerisan, a top regional business consulting and public accounting firm based in Lansing, Mich., announced exciting promotions at the beginning of the year.  

Effective January 1, 2023,Jeff Straus, CPA and Audit principal, was named to the firm’s Board of Directors. Jeff brings nearly 17 years of experience specializing in education, government, and nonprofit auditing and consulting to Maner Costerisan. A dedicated advisor who makes the needs of his clients a top priority, Jeff is an active member of the firm’s Education team.

Maddy Henry, CPA, and Jordan Smith, CPA, were promoted to principals in January 2023. 

Maddy joined Maner Costerisan’s Tax department in 2012. She works closely with the firm’s small and midsize business clients, helping them navigate the complexities of tax planning. A strong contributor to Maner’s Cannabis industry team, Maddy is also an active member of the MICPA’s Cannabis Expert panel. A graduate of Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science and Taxation degree, Maddy lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Chris, and their two dogs. 

 

 

 

Jordan joined Maner Costerisan in January 2019 as part of the firm’s merger with Stevens, Kirinovic & Tucker P.C. (SKT), LLC. With nearly 18 years of government auditing experience, Jordan helps governments discover innovative solutions to budgetary constraints and internal controls while remaining in compliance with state and federal requirements. A graduate of Olivet Nazarene University, Jordan lives in St. Johns with his wife and three children.  

 

 

 

 

In addition to notable leadership promotions, several other team members were promoted to senior managers at the beginning of the year: 

 

Tyler Baker, CPA, began his career at Maner Costerisan in 2015 and was promoted to senior manager in January 2023. He specializes in providing audit and advisory services to Maner’s governmental clients, including municipalities and school districts. A graduate of Spring Arbor University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tyler is an active member of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants’ Government Accounting and Auditing Expert panel and serves as a regular presenter on Maner’s education and government webinars.

 

Tim Bograkos was promoted to director of business development at the beginning of the year. Since joining Maner in 2019, Tim has worked closely with senior leaders to develop and execute targeted growth strategies that support the firm’s overall strategic growth plan. In his new role as director of the division, he will be responsible for overseeing Maner’s business development team and sales strategy. Tim graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. 

 

 

Jon Ringlein, CPA, was promoted to senior manager. A valued member of Maner Costerisan’s Audit department, Jon specializes in performing financial statement audits for a wide range of clients in the affordable housing, governmental and nonprofit industries. Jon graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting degree and a Minor in Information Technology. 

 

 

Kasey Roth, CPA, was promoted to senior manager in the firm’s Audit department. She has eight years of experience providing audit services to Maner’s telecommunication, education, and nonprofit clients. Kasey holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Madonna University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. 

 

 

 

Wes Salisbury, CMA, was also promoted to senior manager. Wes joined the firm in 2016 as a financial accounting software consultant in Maner’s Technology department. With nearly 10 years of experience as an accountant and technology specialist, he offers a unique perspective – having served in the role of those clients he now supports. As a Sage Intacct expert, Wes works closely with his clients to ensure successful software implementations that help them achieve their goals. An active member of the firm’s nonprofit team, Wes graduated from Baker College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  

 

Monica Terry, CPA, was promoted to senior manager in the firm’s Audit department. A member of the firm since 2015, Monica specializes in performing financial statement audits for Maner’s affordable housing and employee benefits plan clients. Monica graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Accountancy. 

 

 

 

Bethany Verble, CPA, CFE, was promoted to senior manager in the Consulting division of the firm’s Accounting and Outsourced Solutions department. She provides consulting, fraud, and forensic services to clients of all industries. A graduate of Lansing Community College and Davenport University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Fraud, and Investigation, Bethany serves as Vice President of the Lansing Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and joined the Michigan Women in Finance board in 2022.
