New funding for health care providers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic is becoming available later this month. Through the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Department of Health and Human Services announced Phase 4 funding application will open soon.

Details
Phase 4 funding of $25.5 billion is available for qualifying health care providers.

  • American Rescue Plan resources of $8.5 billion for providers who serve rural Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program, or Medicare patients.
  • Provider Relief Fund Phase 4 includes $17 billion for a broad range of providers who can document revenue loss and expenses associated with the pandemic.

Application
The application will open on September 29, 2021. To streamline the application process and minimize administrative burdens, providers will apply for both programs in a single application. HRSA will use existing Medicaid/CHIP and Medicare claims data to calculate portions of these payments.

Preparation
Additional information is available on the PRF Future Payments web page. Updates and eligibility requirements will be posted and added before September 29.
Collect supporting documentation, such as the most recent tax documents and financial statements for the second half of the calendar year 2020 and the first quarter of the calendar year 2021.
